A new supportive housing facility on the West Side for young homeless families is in development at 5317 W. Chicago Ave.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Ald. Emma Mitts (37th), the city’s Dept. of Family & Support Services and the non-profit organization New Moms –– along with representatives from the Chicago Alliance to End Homelessness and the Chicago Planning Council, among others –– recently announced the $2.5 million “Plan 2.0” initiative to help stomp out homelessness.
The $2.5 million annual investment in Plan 2.0 –– consisting of existing city funds –– will not cost taxpayers.
