Chicagoans are waiting to welcome Riccardo Muti launch his inaugural season as the music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra with a free concert performance Sunday at 5:30 p.m. Mayor Richard M. Daley, Gov. Pat Quinn and other officials are scheduled to be on hand to provide a great welcome to Maestro Muti.

The program will include Verdi’s Overture to “La forza del destino,”  Liszt “Les preludes,” Tchaikovski’s “Romano and Juliet” and Respighi’s “Pines of Rome”. MICHAEL JACKSON, THE LATE significant popular entertainment star is the subject of “Genius Without Borders” presented at the Center for Black Music Research at Columbia College, 600 S. Michigan Ave., September 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m. SHILOH TRAILBLAZERS PATHFINDER CLUB presents its 2nd annual banquet sailing on the S.S. Japan Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Shiloh Parish Hall, 7008 S.
