Motorola Solutions announces 400 Chicago jobs

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is announcing more jobs coming to Chicago.

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is announcing more jobs coming to Chicago.

Emanuel and Motorola Solutions said Monday that the company would add 400 jobs to Chicago by the end of next year.

The mayor’s office said some of the jobs would be relocations but others would be new hires too. The company has about 5,000 people at its headquarters in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg.

Motorola Solutions was formed because of the breakup of Motorola Inc. Solutions makes police radios, bar code scanners and other products for corporate and government customers. Motorola Mobility makes cellphones.

Last week Emanuel and United Airlines announced the airline was adding 1,300 more jobs to Chicago.
