CHICAGO (AP) – The mother of a man allegedly involved in the death in Indonesia of his girlfriend’s mother has created an online fundraising page to raise money to pay for a lawyer.
Twenty-one-year-old Tommy Schaefer and his girlfriend, 19-year-old Heather Mack, were arrested in Bali a day after the body of Sheila von Wiese-Mack was found inside the trunk of a taxi parked in front of a hotel.
On the site claiming to be created by the family and friends of Schaefer, Kia Walker wrote she loves and “care deeply for my son” and is seeking $100,000 to pay for a lawyer to represent Schaefer and for personal needs.
Bali police says Schaefer and Mack told investigators that 62-year-old von Wiese-Mack of Chicago was killed by robbers while they managed to escape.
