ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Authorities say more than 4,500 people received preventive shots following a hepatitis A outbreak that crossed the state line from Illinois into Iowa. Rock Island County Health Department spokeswoman Theresa Foes says about 200 people came in for shots Wednesday. And a vaccine clinic at Rock Island High School drew more than 4,400 people Monday and Tuesday. The outbreak included two Iowa cases. A spokeswoman for the Health Department in Scott County, Iowa, says both people had eaten at a McDonald’s restaurant in Milan (MY’-luhn). Two food handlers at the Illinois restaurant were among the sick. A McDonald’s patron has sued the fast food giant. McDonald’s has said no one who was sick knowingly worked at the restaurant after officials identified the problem. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
