Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy and Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced Sunday 150 officers will be assigned to the districts –– 2nd, 9th, 10th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 25th –– as a continued initiative to heighten safety throughout the city.

“We are putting them where they can have the best immediate impact on our community, working with residents –– on the beat,” Emanuel said.

Last month the mayor said 500 officers would be assigned to the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 11th and 15th districts –– all described as hot spots.
