Missouri Police Officer Shot During Traffic Stop

BALLWIN, Mo. – A police officer was shot Friday morning during a traffic stop, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The officer was wounded in the neck after he encountered the suspect, who was inside a vehicle. St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar said that there was some sort of interaction between the two that led to the officer being shot.
The suspect then fled in a blue Ford Taurus with temporary Illinois license plates. Another officer with the department saw the vehicle and was able to apprehend and arrest the suspect, where he was taken into custody without any resistance, according to Chief Belmar. A pistol was also recovered from the scene, police officials say.
