CHICAGO (AP) — Northeastern Illinois University is the setting for the last of three town hall meetings about the application process for the state’s medical marijuana program.
The meeting is set for Wednesday morning at the school’s student union building in Chicago. Patients, caregivers and aspiring business owners are invited to attend to learn how the application process will work in the state’s four-year pilot program.
More than 100 people attended a similar meeting Monday in Peoria. The (Peoria) Journal Star reports most questions centered on the requirements for marijuana cultivation centers and dispensaries.
The Illinois Department of Public Health begins taking applications from patients and caregivers Sept. 2.
The application process for businesses is expected to start the following week.
