Chicago Mayor Richard Daley says other countries can’t compete with the money China spent to host the Olympics. Chicago is bidding for the 2016 Summer Games, and Daley says taxpayer money won’t be used. China, however, invested $40 billion to build infrastructure for the games. Daley says one area Chicago needs to focus on as it bids for the Olympics is its public transportation. Chicago has the foundation, but he says the city needs to look at getting more updated cars on the tracks like ones he saw in Beijing. Chicago is vying with Tokyo, Madrid and Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 games. Daley is back in Chicago after traveling to China with a contingent that tried to win support from international sports officials for the city’s bid. AP ______ Copyright 2008 Associated Press.
