A man who lives a few blocks away from his Far South Side alderman was charged Thursday with threatening a public official –– a felony –– and misdemeanor aggravated assault. Police said Thursday morning Julius Jenkins, armed with a knife, walked into Ald. Carrie Austin’s 34th Ward office in the 500 block of West 111th Street and allegedly said he would kill her. The alderman was not in the office at that time. The 37-year-old was caught a short time later after witnesses gave a description of him to police. A small knife was recovered, police said. Jenkins is scheduled to appear in bond court Friday.
