A man convicted of stabbing to death his boss because of a bad job review has been sentenced by a Cook County circuit judge to 40 years in prison. Judge Jorge Alonso also gave 37-year-old Tom Tuduj a consecutive sentence of five years for disarming a police officer at the time of his arrest. Tuduj of Harwood Heights was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of Gary Poter, president and CEO of Poter Construction and Development. Tuduj, an appraiser and bidder for the company, allegedly struggled with the 48-year-old Poter, then stabbed him to death with a kitchen knife at his office near O’Hare International Airport. Before sentencing, Tuduj rambled on for a half hour, apologizing to Poter’s family while blaming a toxic combination of medicine for the murder. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press.
