Man fatally shot while in car

A man who stopped his car briefly near Oak and Larrabee Street was shot multiple times by a man who walked up to the car, police said.

A man who stopped his car briefly near Oak and Larrabee Street was shot multiple times by a man who walked up to the car, police said. Paul Carswell, 31, was driving in the 900 block of North Larrabee Street shortly after 1 a.m. when an unidentified man approached on foot and fired into the vehicle, striking him in the cheek and arm, said Chicago Police News Affairs officer JoAnn Taylor. Carswell, of the 2600 block of West Potomac Avenue, then crashed his vehicle into a building a block north of where the shooting took place. He was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he died a few hours later, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
