Lupita Nyong’o debuts curly afro at Disney Expo

lupitacurlyhair1*Lupita Nyong’o debuted her curly ‘fro at Disney’s D23 Expo last weekend, where the Oscar-winner was promoting her roles in “The Queen of Katwe,” “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” and the live-action version of “The Jungle Book,” which features her voice as mother wolf Raksha.
“Geekin’ out at #Disney #d23expo.” she captioned the photo above on Instagram. Known for her short, sleek hairstyle, would you agree that the “12 Years A Slave” star looks adorable with longer, fuller hair?
During the expo and panel discussion, Lupita said she’s ready to expand her acting chops across all genres.
“I’m really dying to be in a comedy,” Nyong’o told PEOPLE. “I’d love to be in a love story! How about some of that?”
“I’ve been lucky to work so extensively with Disney,” she said. “Star Wars is another world altogether. And to be able to have that experience and be a part of that continuation of Han Solo and Luke and Leia’s journey is really a blessing, to be able to play a small part in that. And then Jungle Book is another world altogether as well.”
Despite her excitement about joining the franchise, some “Star Wars” fans have expressed their frustration that Nyong’o’s role in “The Force Awakens ” would only feature her voice.
“The Queen of Katwe,” tells the true story of Ugandan chess prodigy Phiona Mutesi, who was raised in a Ugandan slum and went on to become a Woman Candidate Master in chess. Nyong’o will play Phiona’s mother.
“Queen of Katwe, which is in our real world, and again is a magical and real story of a girl who had a dream to be a chess master,” Lupita said. “And through hard work and complete commitment to it she went against all odds and achieved that and that’s something I really believe in.”
After performing her duties at the expo, Lupita let loose at Disneyland – posting this picture of her having a blast on Splash Mountain.
