The Brooklyn Nets were not feeling the “Welcome to Atlanta.” But the capacity crowd inside Phillips Arena certainly loved the song performed by Grammy-winning rapper Ludacris that featured longtime friend and collaborator Jermaine Dupri during the Atlanta Hawks victory over the Brooklyn Nets, 96-91.
Christopher “Ludacris” Bridges was the unofficial “Sixth Man” for the surging, front-running Hawks who are the top seed in the Eastern Conference for the first time ever after compiling a record 60 wins and earning their coach Mike Budenholzer the NBA Coach of the Year Award for the 2014-15 season.
Luda, whose new album Ludaverse just dropped on the public, took centerstage to perform his newest hits and greatest oldies during halftime of the game, and then tore through a few more songs after the Hawks took a 2-0 lead in their best of 7 series.
Many other celebs showed up and showed out with Ludacris, including “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Claudia Jordan, V-103 morning radio show host Ryan Cameron, radio personalities Big Tigger and Greg Street and Disturbing Tha Peace co-founder Chaka Zulu.
The rapid-fire rapper is having a banner 2015 as the movie he starred in, Furious 7, has broken studio records, has topped the box-office charts for three consecutive weeks and surpassed the $1 billion mark worldwide.
