The concert hadn’t begun and thousands of young girls were screaming from the top of their lungs.
Why? It was the Scream Tour: The Next Generation, which happens to be the 10th anniversary of the tour.
A few hours before Mindless Behavior, Jacob Latimore, Diggy Simmons, Hamilton Park and the OMG Girlz hit the stage, adoring fans could be seen and heard running through the Arie Crown Theater after catching glimpses of their favorite stars.
Jacob Latimore and Mindless Behavior held separate meet-and-greet sessions with their fans before the concert started.
“Oh my God, Princeton wrapped his scarf around my neck,” one girl was overheard saying as she ran down the hallway. Princeton is a member of MB.
The Defender got a chance to speak with headliners MB, before they rocked the crowd.
They’re excited about the recent release of their debut CD “#1 Girl” and their third video “Girls Talkin’ Bout.”
“It feels good to be back in Chicago. The fans here love us and we appreciate them. The last time we were here was in July for the Closer To My Dreams Tour,” said Ray Ray.
The group, all 14 years old, has performed several times in the city this year, including opening up for Janet Jackson.
Jacob Latimore, also no stranger to performing in Chicago, pumped up the crowd with his dance moves. He also brought out artist Issa who is on the remix to the 15-year-old’s “Like Em All.”
Before 16-year-old Diggy Simmons left the stage after rocking his hit single “Copy and Paste,” he summarized his life story, including his stint as a reality show star from “Run’s House,” and told the crowd to never give up on their dreams. There will always be someone who doesn’t want to see you succeed, but always keep going for success.
Diggy then brought Latimore out to do the original version of “Like Em All” featuring Diggy. He also came out on MB’s last song, “Mrs. Right,” which he is featured on.
Atlanta-based groups OMG Girlz and Hamilton Park, kept the crowd on its feet.
OMG, started by Tamika Cottle Harris, or as she’s better known as Tiny from the group Escape, was introduced to the fans by video by telling them she wanted the fans to scream their names when their performance was over.
