Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau Gives Congressional Black Caucus a Taste of Louisville

The Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau helped attendees of the Congressional Black Caucus’ Annual Legislative Conference get a feel for life in Louisville during its Taste of Louisville Bourbon Reception.
The reception is an annual favorite and showcases Louisville as the destination for people who want to live, work, and play in a first-class city. The Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau Sales Team hosted the event at Washington, D.C.’s Carnegie Library on Sept. 14, accompanied by Rep. John Yarmuth, Kentucky State Senator Gerald Neal, and Louisville Metro Councilman David Tandy.
The event was filled with bourbon tastings and Kentucky-inspired appetizers, which align with its intentional theme and timing. September is National Bourbon Heritage Month and the drink’s roots can be traced back to Louisville over 200 years ago. The bureau says that bourbon-related activity has “taken center stage as a must-do” for visitors coming to Louisville. The city hosts six distilleries that offer public tours and tastings and will have an additional three by the end of 2017 while its Urban Bourbon Trail has over 50 bourbons available for visitors at 35 different stops. Kentucky currently produces 95 percent of the world’s supply of bourbon, the bureau says, and Louisville prides itself on being the “Gateway to Bourbon Country.”
