The Murder Capital of America claimed another prominent star on Saturday.
Rapper OTF Nunu, 21, the cousin of rapper Lil Durk, was riddled with bullets in an unexplained drive-by shooting and killed on the city’s South Side.
His death was one of four fatal shootings in a twelve hour span in Chicago on Saturday, May 31.
OTF Nunu, born McArthur Swindle, was about to release a mixtape this summer with the ominously and tragically ironic title, Nuski Got Da Strap.
A few days before the tragedy, Lil Durk released a set of visuals featuring Nunu on the song “OC.”
The Chicago Sun-Times speculates the Swindle’s shooting may have been gang-related. However, the rapper’s aunt, Sherri Swindle, denied Nunu was had any Chicago gang affiliations. Moreover, Swindle told the daily newspaper that Nunu was taking college courses in Joliet just outside of the city.
The shooting took place shortly after 3:00 p.m. when an unidentified suspect approached Swindle in his vehicle and began shooting without warning.
Nunu was reportedly seated in a vehicle and attempted to drive after being shot multiple times than once but the vehicle crashed his SUV into a window-front.
In another ironic twist, Nunu posted an image to his Instagram account with the caption “Im on sum cool s—” just hours before being murdered.
