Today is National Violence Awareness Day. The King Prep High School student was killed in the middle of cross fire at a nearby playground walking home from school with classmates.
One week before the young teenager’s life was taken she performed at the White House with her school band.
There will be a free outdoor event at the Harold Washington Park located at 5200 S. Hyde Park today from 3:30pm-6:30pm with live performances, food and speakers. Wearing orange is the color that hunters wear to alert others not to shoot them.
