ADVERTISEMENT FOR CONSTRUCTION BIDS LEGAL NOTICE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by Prairie Hills School District 144 that sealed bids will be received for Interior Kitchen Renovations at the Primary Learning Academy located at 3215 West 162nd Street, Markham, Illinois 60428. Bids will be received for the following bid packages: Bid Package #1-Carpentry and General Construction; Bid Package #2-Plumbing; Bid Package 3-HVAC; and Bid Package #4-Electrical; Bid Package #5-Kitchen Equipment. Sealed bids will be accepted up to the hour of 1:00 PM Central Time, on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the office of School District 144, 3015 West 163rd Street, Markham, IL 60428, and will be publicly opened and read immediately following that time.

The bidding documents, which include drawings and specifications, are available electronically to bidders via the Architect’s Procore site. Access can be obtained by calling the office of the Architect at 708-339-3900. The Architect has been authorized to refuse to issue plans and specifications and related bidding documents to any person, firm or corporation that the Architect considers to be unqualified.

Proposals must be submitted on the forms provided. All proposals or bids offered must be accompanied by a bid bond in a form acceptable to the school board, cashiers check, or certified check made payable to the Owner in the amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the total amount of the proposal as a guarantee that if the proposal is accepted, a contract shall be entered into and the performance of the contract is properly secured.

No bid shall be withdrawn after the opening of the proposals without the consent of School District 144 for a period of sixty (60) days after the scheduled time of closing bids.

APPLICABLE REQUIREMENTS

All employees of the Contractor or Subcontractor(s) on construction work for this Project shall be paid wages at rates not less than those prevailing on similar construction in the locality as determined by the Department of Labor in accordance with the applicable provisions of the “Wages of Employees on Public Works Act” (Prevailing Wage Act, Illinois Rev. Stat., 820 ILCS 130/1 et. seq.) and with all applicable provisions of the “Illinois’ Preference Act”, 30 ILCS 570/.01 et. seq.

The successful Bidder of the construction of the improvement will be required to file a performance and payment bond equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract, with sureties to be approved by the Architect, which performance bonds shall be conditioned upon proper and faithful performance by the Contractor of the work specified in accordance with the plans and specifications therefore, according to the time and terms and conditions of the contract: and also that the successful Bidder, now the Contractor, shall properly pay all debts incurred by the Contractor in the execution of the work, including those for labor and material furnished for himself and all of his subcontractors. The bonding company shall have a minimum rating of “A VIII “ in accordance with Best’s Key Rating Guide – Latest Edition.

The Contractor shall be required to furnish sufficient insurance or guaranty of indemnity to School District 144 against any and all claims which might arise for damages to persons or property due to the negligence of the Contractor or Subcontractors, or their officers, agents, employees or servants, during the construction of said improvement and until the said improvement has been finally accepted as complete by the School District 144.
