Jeremy Levitt debuted Monday as the new morning weekday host on WVON-AM/1690 from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Dubbed the “Blue Collar Scholar,” Levitt replaces Roland S. Martin, a CNN contributor, TV One commentator and senior news analyst for the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show, which airs on WVAZ-FM/102.7. Martin left WVON earlier this month for TJMS, after three years as host of the weekday morning slot. Levitt, an associate dean and professor of international law at Florida A&M University College of Law in Orlando and law professor at Florida International University College of Law in Miami, has traveled, researched or worked in 27 African countries. He is the author of “The Evolution of Deadly Conflict in Liberia: From ‘Paternaltarianism’ to State Collapse,” and is currently working on his second book, “Illegal Peace?: Examining the Legality of Power-Sharing With African Warlords and Rebels.” “Dr. Jeremy Levitt is a new young dynamo that will enhance the station with his charismatic energy, intelligence and conversation that we have come to expect from the morning shows on WVON,” the station’s program director, LaMont Watts, said in a statement. ______ Copyright 2008 Chicago Defender.
