DETROIT – A lawyer for Detroit’s former mayor says his client’s up to date – and even early – with monthly restitution payments in the criminal case that drove him from office.
Lawyer Michael Alan Schwartz says Kwame Kilpatrick sent a $9,500 check overnight. It represents $3,500 owed from May and $6,000 due June 15.
The Wayne County prosecutor’s office asked a judge last week to determine why authorities haven’t tried to revoke Kilpatrick’s probation.
