Lauryn Hill cites ‘past legal situation’ for cancelling London show

Lauryn HillLauryn Hill doesn’t seem to be doing much good for fans in London as she ended up cancelling a performance in the famed city.
According to The Independent, Hill referenced her “past legal situation” in America as the reason for her cancellation. The site noted that the items making up Hill’s legal situation include a prison sentence for tax evasion in 2013 that lasted less than three months. As a result of her legal issues, Hill claims she has been banned from the United Kingdom.
Hmm, the ban – if it actually exists – must be new because  The Independent pointed out that the 40-year-old rapper-singer performed in London last year.
The cancelled acoustic performance was slated to take place at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire tonight (July 15). As it stands now, the show isn’t listed among Hill’s upcoming performances on her website.
“I’ve been informed that I won’t be able to enter the UK for a period of time due to my past legal situation,” the former Fugees member wrote on her Facebook page.
“For this reason I have to cancel my concert on July 15th. Know that I was looking forward to performing in London this summer, and that I appreciate all my fans and supporters both in London, and throughout the UK,” wrote Hill, who added that she was looking forward to “seeing you again as soon as I’m able to”.
In September of last year, she performed five nights at the Brixton Academy. Media sources report that Hill’s show was plagued by technical problems. In addition, fans  were upset with the entertainer, who showed up on stage 90 minutes late.
