The last residents are moving out of the last high-rise of Chicago’s infamous Cabrini-Green public housing project, although some are saying they aren’t ready to go.

Crews were moving out the last four to five families from the North Side building Tuesday. Residents say the Chicago Housing Authority gave them until Tuesday to move out, moving up an original January deadline. Officials say the building is no longer safe because of its low occupancy.

Residents are being moved to nearby townhomes or to off-site subsidized housing.

Cabrini-Green resident Annie Ricks and Kenneth Hammond said they aren’t satisfied with the condition of new housing being offered, noting the residences are still being rehabilitated.

Ricks and Hammond and several others said they wanted more time to get ready to move.
