It’s confirmed. Kevin Hart truly is as funny off camera as he is in front of it, and actress Regina Hall said it first. The two joked around, interrupting each others red carpet interviews at a prescreening of “Think Like a Man Too,” Thursday, June 12.
“He’s naturally funny all the time,” Hall said. “What you see is what you get.”
The film, directed by Tim Story hits Chicago theaters Friday, June 20, but some of the on camera talent decided to come promote the movie and meet their fans at the Kerasotes Showplace Icon, 150 W. Roosevelt Road. Hart and Hall, who have shared the big screen before, were joined by Terrence Jenkins, or “Terrence J”.
In this one, the couples are attending a wedding in Las Vegas. Instead of a romantic weekend, plans change when they find themselves in unexpected situations. The first one, which came out in 2012, was about four male friends who tried to get back at their women when they learned they were using Steve Harvey’s relationship advice on them.
If there were a competition between the two, the sequel would win, said Hart.
“It exceeds expectations,” he said. “The second one is better than the first one.”
The comedian/actor described working with the cast like one big family and there was no denying that. When the trio made their way to each reporter, there were plenty of secret laughs, playful pushes and inside jokes. They appeared to be brother and sister.
Terrence Jenkins said coming back to work with the cast for this sequel was like a family reunion or returning to classes after a summer vacation.
“It’s like the first day of school, you see everybody, you catch up, you pick right up where you left off,” he said.
Even though Jenkins fits in with the cast, he said he recognizes he still has a lot to learn.
“Even though I’m on TV, doing the TV and radio thing, I take a three hour acting class every week and I’ve been doing that for the past seven years,” he said.”
“I’m focused on becoming better because I know I’m around actors and comedians that are way better and more talented than me so I just work harder so that when the camera goes on, I can hold my own,” Jenkins said.
When it comes to mood killers, Hart said he doesn’t let anything get in the way of him enjoying his life.
“I don’t have bad days,” he said. “I’m doing what I love to do, I’m blessed, I’m happy, my kids are healthy, my job is making people laugh so there is no room for bad vibes in my case, I’m on cloud nine.”
Movie goers can expect to laugh throughout the film starting with the first 60 seconds.
