Call Him Up, Perfect Peace, With My Whole Heart and I Feel Like Going On – which was featured in the movie The Five Heartbeats – were songs that kept legendary artist Keith Pringle on the map. After nearly a 15-year hiatus due to bad record contracts, which ultimately lead to depression and thoughts of suicide, Pringle is back on track. His soon to be released project, Nothing Too Hard for God, is due to be released in July.
“That is actually the title cut. It’s gonna be a good album,” said Pringle.
Knowing firsthand about the mercy of God, Pringle shared his testimony.
“We wonder sometimes why we go through things, but in order to have a testimony you got to go through things. I was singing I Feel like Going On with money in my pocket, brand new car. I was singing Perfect Peace with a nice condo and everything was going good. I never stopped loving the Lord. But, I never had a situation where I had to go to God and say ‘Give me some peace because I’m losing it’, until he took me through some things. My money got low and I didn’t have food and my bills were backing up on me and depression came. I dealt with depression-wondering why God would send me through this. I never did anything to deserve this. Why… now no record company wants to hear me or record me anymore. I mean it really got to me,” he said.
Pringle is candid in his recall of a very dark time in his life.
“I was so depressed. I was gonna commit suicide. One night, I was giving up on the church and everybody. I was gonna take these pills and stuff and I remember going to my vanity in my bathroom and with tears in my eyes and said I’m tired. I’m ready to end it. I said I don’t have no body here to love me and to hold me and God spoke to me and said if you don’t have nobody to hold you, hold yourself,” Pringle said. “If you don’t have nobody to pray for you pray for yourself. If you don’t have nobody to love you what’s wrong with you? Love yourself.”
