Joe Gallo photos on display at Chicago Photography Center

CHICAGO PHOTOGRAPHY CENTER, 3301 N. Lincoln Ave., presents photographs by Joe Gallo, June 11 through July 30. Gallo’s photography explores signage that once lined the Las Vegas strip, and are considered metaphors for American consumer culture.

CHICAGO’S SOHO located at the Bridgeport Art Center, 1200 W. 35th St., consists of multigenerational and multicultural artists including Eunice Laurel Richardson, Julian Williams and Amanda Williams. These artists showcase paintings, sculptures, jewelry design, custom furniture and mixed media in the former Spiegel Catalog Warehouse, adjacent to the south branch of the Chicago River.

CRYSTAL HOUSE, 5116 Main St. in Downers Grove, is now a tourist attraction and mini art museum. The place is a glimpse into Africa with collectible, primitive art pieces from Cameroon, Nigeria, Chad, Gabon, Congo, Mali and Benin. The pieces include tribal beds, Nook terra cotta sculptures, Soot bronze pieces, Punu masks and pygmy beds.

BROADWAY IN CHICAGO, Goodman Theatre, will honor Mayor Richard M. Daley With special guest Rocco Landesman, Chairman of the National Endowment of the Arts,Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Cadillac Palace, 151 W. Randolph St.

CHICAGO GOSPEL MUSIC FESTIVAL preview begins at noon Wednesday at Daley Plaza, 50 W. Washington St. The preview fest continues June 4 at the Recording Academy, 303 W. Erie Suite 210 at 5 p.m.
