There are more questions than answers when it comes to the whereabouts of Jesse Jackson, Jr. Recently reports have come to light of the 2nd District Rep being spotted at a Washington, D.C., bar with two different women. Also recently The Daily posted photos of him Monday on the stoop of his Dupont Circle home sitting with his father, Rev. Jesse Jackson, and smoking a cigar.
He told the publication he’s “not well.”
Jackson Jr. said he visits the doctor twice daily at and was picking up his kids when The Daily snapped a photo of him on Monday. The congressman didn’t have much else to say to the publication.
Jackson Jr. went on medical leave from the House of Representatives on June 10 and since then few details were released until his office confirmed in August that Jackson had been receiving treatment for depression.
There is currently a federal investigation into Jackson Jr.’s finances, alleging that he illegally used campaign funds to redecorate his home. The house was on being priced at $2.5 million. There is also ongoing speculation that he tried to cut a deal with former Gov. Rod Blagojevich to take President Barack Obama’s former Senate seat, which is under review by a House Ethics Committee.
Jackson Sr. said his son is “just trying to clear his head. He’s been under medical supervision.”
Republican Brian Woodworth of Bourbonnais told NBC Chicago Monday the latest allegations against his opponent are more proof his district is without leadership.
“We don’t have a voice in Congress,” Woodworth said. “There isn’t a voice in Congress. It’s been silent for four months. And there’s no promise that voice is coming back any time soon.”
