The chain has teamed up with Academy and Grammy Award-winner Jennifer Hudson in their 7-Eleven Coffee Cup With A Cause campaign. Throughout the year, 7-Eleven will introduce limited-edition coffee cups designed by sports and entertainment celebrities with as much as $250,000 to be donated by the chain to the charity of the celebrities’ and athletes’ choice.

On March 31, Hudson made a surprise appearance at the Louis L. Valentine Boys and Girls Club of Chicago to formally announce that sales of the cup she inspired would be donated to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

The singer/actress credits the organization for encouraging her current profession. “I actually did my first talent show, and I won, at the Boys and Girls Club. It helped me realize that much more,” Hudson said. Hudson’s cup features a burning candle inscribed with the words “Light on Peace” and includes her signature.

“I like candles. And candles are a symbol of peace, so why not spread peace throughout the world,” the Chicago native explained.

The entertainer’s cup will be available until May 31.

Local factions of the Boys and Girls Club treated Hudson to dance and choir performances. Hudson gave each performer a favorable critique and some advice. %uFFFD

“Make sure you have a base of education. It’s not always about how good you are. Everybody thinks if you have the talent (that’s enough), but you have to have the personality and prepare for what’s in store,” the singer stressed.

There was also a question and answer session during her visit where the Dreamgirls star answered questions from young club members about her career, life and fame. Following the event, Hudson talked about being a new mom, and her upcoming nuptials to WWE wrestler David Otunga.

“It’s stressful planning for a wedding. It all falls on the bride!,” the bride-to-be exclaimed. But it’s Hudson’s newest addition that keeps her smiling.

“He is the best baby. He is such a joy, the light of my day,” she says of her infant son, David Jr. Hudson will soon be making her way back to the big screen. She will be heading to Johannesburg, South Africa to play the lead role in a biopic about Winnie Mandela.

Chicagoans can also expect to see Hudson around town more.

“I plan to move back to Chicago. Soon. I want my son to see where we’re from. This is where your family is. This is home. We are looking forward to moving back to Chicago,” she fondly nodded. Hudson is also working on a new album. %uFFFD
