Jason House, a Dolton Village Trustee, will be the village’s next mayor, marking a new chapter after the embattled tenure of former mayor Tiffany Henyard.
House dominated the April 1 election, winning more than 95 percent of the vote against Casundra Hopson-Jordan. That followed his February primary win over Henyard, a campaign that drew local and national attention.
With 3,359 ballots cast out of 16,472 registered voters, turnout reached just over 20 percent. House pulled in 3,171 votes to Hopson-Jordan’s 152.
His victory signals a clear message from Dolton residents: they’re ready for a change in leadership.

Voters across south suburban Cook County made their choices in several competitive races:

- Andre F. Harvey (Bellwood First Party): 2,042 votes (69.53%)
- Janel Moreland (Vision of the People Party): 895 votes (30.47%)

- Katrina Thompson (Broadview People’s Party): 1,041 votes (68.31%)
- Angela Patterson (Broadview Community Party): 483 votes (31.69%)
Turnout: 25.25%
Calumet Park
- Ronald Denson (The Unity Party): 687 votes (71.34%)
- Stacey Francine James (Independent): 276 votes (28.66%)
Turnout: 17.82%
Flossmoor
- Michelle Nelson (Independent): 1,681 votes (56.47%)
- Joni Bradley-Scott (Independent): 1,296 votes (43.53%)

Across the south suburbs, some voters opted for new leadership. Others chose to stay the course. But in Dolton, the numbers left no room for doubt. Jason House is the voters’ choice to lead the village forward.
