Boys and girls, do you have what it takes to be a King, Queen, Prince, Princess, Lord, or Lady? Are you smart? Do you get along well with others? Do you obey your parents and teachers? The Chicago Defender is looking for three boys and three girls, age eight to twelve years-old, who live in the greater Chicago area, to become the Royal Court of the 2012 Bud Billiken« Day Parade. The Royal Court represents all children everywhere in the annual parade that celebrates our youth.

In addition to leading the 83rd Annual Chicago Defender Bud Billiken« Day Parade, the Royal Court participates in a week of fun prior to the parade. Plus the King and Queen win the Grand Prize – a family vacation to Walt Disney« World in Orlando, Florida.

Do you have what it takes to be a member of the 83rd Annual Chicago Defender Bud Billiken« Day Parade Royal Court? Are your ready for fun, excitement, and the experience of a lifetime? Then, get ready. Registration for the Chicago Defender Bud Billiken« Day Parade King and Queen Contest begins May 16. Look for the registration form in the Chicago Defender and on the Chicago Defender website starting Wednesday, May 16. The last day to register is June 15.

To learn more about the contest, join the Chicago Defender Bud Billiken« Day Parade King and Queen Contest team at a kick-off rally on May 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Chicago Defender building at 4445 S. King Dr.

The 83rd Annual Chicago Defender Bud Billiken« Day Parade takes place on August 11. Over three-hundred floats, vehicles, and marching units will travel the parade route – King Drive from 41st street into Washington Park – including Mickey and Minney Mouse. Leading the pageantry will be the Bud Billiken« Parade King, Queen, Prince, Princess, Lord, and Lady on the Royal Float. Which member of the Royal Court will be you?
