Chicago’s Independent Police Review Authority is investigating two separate police shootings on the city’s South Side that left two men dead.
Sunday’s shootings occurred less than five miles apartùfirst around 1 a.m. and the other shortly after 7 p.m. in the Englewood neighborhood. Family members identified the first victim as 39-year-old Shapell Terrell. Police say they recovered two guns from the scene, but family members dispute that claim. Later Sunday, police fatally shot an armed man who was involved in a domestic disturbance. They say they recovered a weapon from that crime scene. His identity hasn’t been released.
