ERIE, Ill. — Northwestern Illinois authorities say a sleeping driver caused the crash that killed an Iowa woman along Interstate 88.

ERIE, Ill. — Northwestern Illinois authorities say a sleeping driver caused the crash that killed an Iowa woman along Interstate 88.

The Whiteside County Sheriff’s office says 65-year-old James Daniel of Cedar Rapids fell asleep at the wheel as he traveled near Erie on Friday afternoon.

His car eventually crashed, killing his 61-year-old wife, Edith Daniel.

James Daniel and two 14-year-old passengers were injured.
