A Chicago native, Kathleen Arnold Towns died recently in Locust Grove, Georgia. She was an educator for 44 years at District 147 for 8 years, and District 205 for 36 years. She developed a remedial reading program that received state-wide recognition in Illinois. She coached track at District 205. Ms. Towns attended Dunbar Vocational High School graduating in 1969. She was the first female accepted in the Electronics Program. She attended Malcolm X College where she earned an Associate in Liberal Arts with honors in 1973 and a Bachelor’s in education 1975 from Chicago State University. She is survived by Son Bobby H. Towns II and daughter, Shareese Towns.
