Illinois Senate Democrats want campaign contribution limits that are higher than the ones a state reform commission appointed by Gov. Pat Quinn wants. Lawmakers on Wednesday proposed annual $5,000 limits on individual contributions and $10,000 limits from political committees, corporations, unions and other associations. Quinn’s commission suggested $2,400 individual limits and $5,000 limits from others in election cycles, not every year like lawmakers want. Patrick Collins is the former federal prosecutor heading up Quinn’s commission. He was expected to meet Friday with the Senate Executive Committee. Collins said the numbers the two groups are suggesting are very different. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
