Illinois probable swine flu cases reach 17

Health officials say the number of probable swine flu cases in Illinois has risen to 17.

Health officials say the number of probable swine flu cases in Illinois has risen to 17. Officials say the new total includes three new cases in Cook County, four new cases in Kane County and one case in McHenry County. That’s eight more than what the Illinois Department of Public Health announced Wednesday. Department spokeswoman Kelly Jakubek says the state hasn’t yet received confirmation from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about any of the test results. The cases won’t be considered "confirmed" until the CDC does its own testing. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
