Illinois Lottery Toy Drive Brings Instant Joy to Families in Need

Through the generosity of Chicagoans in the Bridgeport and Bronzeville neighborhood, the Illinois Lottery collected nearly 300 donated toys during its ‘Gift Instant Joy’ Holiday Toy Drive on Sunday, December 12.

And to help bring joy to even more children in need this holiday season, the Illinois Lottery will double the impact with a matching toy donation! 600 toys, ranging from Barbie dolls and scooters to life-size scale football machines, will now grace the homes of children affiliated with the Boys and Girls Club Alliance of Illinois, a charitable partner of the Illinois Lottery.

“We’re so thankful for everyone that participated in our holiday toy drive,” said Harold Mays, Illinois Lottery Acting Director. “The holidays can be a trying time for families in need. With these toy donations, we hope to bring some joy and smiles to the faces of more children this holiday season.”

“We are extremely grateful to the Illinois Lottery for hosting the holiday toy drive and for their generosity of matching the toy donations,” said Michael Crowley, Chief of Staff of Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago. “We look forward to spreading joy to our young people this Christmas.”

Participants who donated a new, unwrapped toy were ‘gifted’ a FREE Illinois Lottery Holiday Instant Ticket. They were also entered into a drawing for a chance to win two tickets to the sold-out WGCI Big Jam concert.

The Illinois Lottery is a proud partner of the Illinois Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs and sponsors the Clubs’ Power Hour initiative, which helps youth achieve academic success by providing homework help, tutoring, and high-yield learning activities.
