Illinois State Senator Lakesia Collins, Joint Chairman of the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus (ILBC), will be joined by the entire Illinois Legislative Black Caucus and the Illinois Legislative Caucus Foundation (ILBCF) as it will collectively host the ILBC 2025 Soiree.

Hundreds are expected to attend this year’s event to support the ILBC mission of building a more just and equitable Illinois. However, given the enormous uncertainties stemming from the recent 2024 presidential election, the ILBC seeks to unify divisions, create avenues of common ground, and establish a programmatic thrust of ideologies, goals and anticipated results.

While our nation is deeply divided, Illinois remains one of the few states that is primed, energized and prepared for the challenges ahead. However, it is imperative that we recognize that there are still divisions that reflect differences in ideology. We can only prevail against these challenges by enhancing our numerous variations in diversity and enhancing the core values that bring us together. While many may attempt to marginalize the mere concept of a soiree, the ILBC views it as a methodology to  sharpen our agenda and be fully united for the journey ahead,” says Joint Chairman Collins.”

The gala will feature live music, food, and other eventful surprises. The ILBC will officially present its leadership to the public, which is charged with ushering the caucus into this current General Assembly.

“The ILBCF has been in lockstep with the ILBC in our dedication to protecting, developing and advancing black communities around Illinois. It is the mission of the ILBCF TO ensure that African American communities throughout Illinois are aware of legislative changes and to host legislative forums and other events where we can inform residents about changes in state government. The Soiree is our evening social that allows us to coalesce people from all walks of life for the purpose of understanding the core mission of the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus and its current initiatives,” says ILBCF Board Chairman Paul Williams.

Joint Chairman Collins concludes, “The work ahead is not easy, but together, we are powerful. The ILBC will continue to be a force for change, using our collective strength to break down barriers and build a future that reflects the values of equity, opportunity, and justice for all.”
