Illinois gun groups hail Supreme Court decision

Gun advocates say the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark decision that Americans have a right to own guns for self-defense and hunting should lead to more gun-friendly laws across Illinois.

Richard Pearson of the Illinois State Rifle Association says many pro-gun groups have been waiting for this decision before pushing for changes to restrictive gun laws. Pearson says he doesn’t know of any lawsuits currently challenging gun laws in Illinois. But he expects that to change in the days and weeks to come now that the Supreme Court decision is in. His says his association will give municipal governments a little time to change restrictive laws on their own. But if they don’t do it, Pearson says they can expect to face lawsuits soon.
