As expected, Illinois’ 21 electors have cast their presidential ballots for President-elect Barack Obama.
Members of the Electoral College are meeting around the country Monday to make Obama’s election official.
Illinois’ electors, though, cast their paper ballots in a unique setting.
Dave Druker, a spokesman for the Illinois Secretary of State’s office, says electors met in the state Senate chamber to cast their ballots.
Druker says electors usually meet in a committee room or office. But he says electors voted in the Senate chamber in honor of Obama, who served in the Illinois Senate.
Druker says the whole process took about an hour.
