Illinois DCFS to Recruit at Chicago Urban League Job Fair

In an effort to expand its workforce, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services will participate in the Chicago Urban League’s citywide job fair on June 25. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the UIC Forum, located at 725 W. Roosevelt Road in Chicago.

Illinois DCFS is seeking to fill various mission-driven roles, including child protection specialists, child welfare specialists, and day care licensing representatives. The agency is also looking to hire office associates, regional and senior counsel, child development and social service aides, and public service administrators.

This recruitment effort comes as Illinois DCFS continues to expand its workforce across the state, now boasting more than 3,500 employees – a level of staffing not seen in over 15 years. Employees at Illinois DCFS enjoy competitive wages, comprehensive employer-sponsored medical, dental, and life insurance, defined-benefit pensions, opportunities for career advancement, and generous paid vacation and sick leave.

Attendees of the job fair will have the opportunity to speak with DCFS recruiters to learn more about these career opportunities and the benefits of working for an organization committed to child welfare. DCFS plays a crucial role in protecting children from abuse and neglect, responding to reports through the Child Abuse Hotline and providing a range of services to strengthen and support families.

About the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services

Currently celebrating 60 years as the nation’s first cabinet-level child welfare agency, DCFS is dedicated to protecting children from abuse and neglect. The agency responds to reports received through the Child Abuse Hotline (1-800-252-2873) and non-emergency reports via childabuse.illinois.gov. DCFS strives to keep children safe by providing various support services to families. In cases where children must be removed from their homes, DCFS aims to reunite them with their families whenever possible. If reunification is not in the child’s best interest, DCFS pursues guardianship and fictive kin as primary alternatives.
