Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is using a lawsuit against a suburban Chicago tour guide company to remind Illinoisans to be cautious when making vacation plans. Madigan suggests Illinoisans contact her office’s Consumer Fraud Bureau and the Better Business Bureau to ask about the standing of tour companies they’re thinking about using. She advises against giving companies money until they detail in writing what they’re offering and policies regarding refunds and other issues. Madigan’s office alleges that Cosper & Cosper Group Tours of Wheeling accepted nearly $24,000 from vacation planners from around the country and didn’t give refunds when tours were canceled. But William Cosper says his 30-year-old company never defrauded anyone, has made many refunds and intends to make more. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved.
