The Illinois attorney general wants consumers to be cautious before they purchase gift cards for presents this holiday season. Attorney General Lisa Madigan says shoppers should know that Illinois law requires all gift cards be active for at least five years and that any fees be displayed on the card. Madigan says consumers should read any fine print before deciding to purchase the gift card.
