Ill. school dismisses students after threat

Security concerns are again disrupting classes at a suburban Chicago high school. Officials sent students at Lockport Township High School home Tuesday morning after someone left a threatening message on a school voice mail. A school statement didn’t provide details. On Monday, an apparent explosion in a hallway of the high school’s central campus released pungent fumes that sent more than a dozen students to the hospital. No one was seriously injured. Officials placed students on lockdown for several hours Monday before dismissing them before noon. And last week, authorities conducted searches after a suspicious message was found on a washroom wall at the school’s east campus. Officials dismissed classes at both campuses Tuesday. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
