SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Illinois residents may confidentially list emergency contacts in a new program on the secretary of state’s Web site. Information entered at www.cyberdriveillinois.com will be made available to law enforcement agencies who can then contact family members or friends in case of emergency. People with an Illinois driver’s license or state ID may enter information for up to two family members or friends in the United States, including addresses and phone numbers. Only law enforcement agencies have access to the information. Secretary of State Jesse White pushed legislation to create the service. Illinois joins Florida and Ohio with such programs. ______ Copyright 2009 Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
