I Grow Chicago founder Robbin Carroll named a 2019 CNN Heroes Award finalist

In recognition of her innovative community building work in Englewood.

I Grow Chicago is proud to announce that founder and president Robbin Carroll has been selected as a finalist for the 2019 CNN Heroes Award. In its thirteenth year, the CNN Heroes campaign is a year long initiative that honors everyday people for their selfless, creative efforts to help others.

Carroll was selected as a finalist for her innovative community building work in Englewood through I Grow Chicago, an organization she founded with residents of and in Englewood. I Grow Chicago’s mission comes with a multifaceted approach with a focus on growing Englewood from surviving to thriving. They do this through community connection, skill building, and with programs that work to combat the traumatic effects of violence and poverty.

“We are honored to show the power of community when we all come together and co-create the world we want to live in,” said Carroll.

Each year, CNN receives thousands of nominations from around the world and upon selection, a CNN Hero is profiled weekly on the global networks of CNN and on CNN.com. The Top 10 2019 CNN Heroes will be announced in November and the selection process for CNN Hero of the Year will happen through an online voting process. The CNN Hero of the Year will be revealed during “CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute.”
