The man accused of murdering three of singer/actress Jennifer Hudson’s relatives will be transferred from a state prison to the county jail so his attorney can have easier access to him. Cook County Criminal Court Judge Marjorie Laws granted Joshua Kutnick’s request Tuesday that his client, William Balfour, be housed at the Cook County Jail instead of the Statesville Correctional Center in Joliet. Balfour, 27, the estranged husband of Hudson’s sister, Julia Hudson, pleaded not guilty earlier this month to three counts of first-degree murder and one count of home invasion. Prosecutors said Balfour shot the Hudson sisters’ mother Darnell Donerson, 57, brother Jason Hudson, 29, and Julia’s 7-year-old son, Julian King, in October. Balfour is jailed without bond and was being held in Statesville for a parole violation. His next court date is scheduled for Feb. 23. ______ Copyright 2009 Chicago Defender. All rights reserved.
