Howard University
Howard University President Wayne A.I. Frederick, MD., MBA will join  HUACC at pre game C

THE HOWARD UNIVERSITY ALUMNI CLUB OF CHICAGO is strong and committed to its mission.  They have  integrated the old singular thrust  of  coming together and organizing for the sole purpose of fundraising with  building a solid support and networking  organization that creates opportunities for they alumni to interact and engage with one another.  “Gone are the days when alumni associations work solely to raise money for their alma maters or recruit new students in their local communities,” says Danielle James, president of HUACC.
Now they seek to serve a greater purpose — service. So under the platform of Reconnection, its mission is to bring programs to the alumni of Howard University in the Chicagoland area that embrace excellence and are reminiscent of what was most memorable about the time spent at the Mecca. From reconnecting local HBCU alumni chapters in a competitive softball tournament to annual scholarship picnics, the Howard University Alumni Club of Chicago seeks to be the face of “The Mecca” in the Chicagoland community, sustaining its core values—leadership, excellence, truth, and service.
On Community Commitment Daniells says, ” Community service  is an important part of our mission. It is vital that we stay connected with our communities and thrust create community amongst the members of HUACC.”
This is carried out in a spectrum of ways. HUACC members participate in a variety of community based volunteer services while encouraging all to join.
One of the activities that the organization is excited about is the Chicago Football Classic, at Soldier Field,1410 Museum Campus Drive, Saturday September 26, 2015 around which they have planned several exciting events. One in particular is the Presidents Brunch  with Howard University’s 17th President, Wayne A.I. Frederick, MD, MBA, September 27, 2015 at South Shore Cultural Center, located at 7059 S. South Shore Drive.  The other events take place through out the city. As an alternative to the traditional spring breakHUACC collaborates with  with Father Michael Pfleger and St. Sabina Church, HUACC to  host an “Alternative Spring Break” every year to over 50 students from Howard University. Instead of engaging in wild and sometimes reckless partying,  students spend their spring break volunteering in anti-violence community service projects throughout Chicago. Alum and volunteers provide food, social networking, time, and knowledge to the students.
“Its a way to focus on making a contribution that can make a difference in the lives of those living in a community that suffers from random and senseless violence or families that can’t afford food,” explains Danielle. ” It’s also a great opportunity to bond as alumni fin an effort to do something constructive an good for the community.”
The organization also  organizes the Escape to the Mecca where  Annually 20-30 Chicago Public School (CPS) students visit Howard University for the “Escape to the Mecca College Tour.”Students are able to tour the campus, go to classes and meet with the administration. HUACC hosts fundraisers and accepts donations to assist with travel costs for students.

Annually  HUACC has gathers over nine Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’S) for a day of fun and camaraderie at its Annual Softball Tournament: Previous participating schools include Jackson State University, University of Alabama Pine Bluff, Spelman College, Morehouse College, Southern University, Grambling University, Xavier University, Florida A & M University and Hampton University.
HUACC  introduced the Golf Outing and Network Reception. In the  Spring of  2014, HUACC partnered with Howard Alum Van A.
