The Connectional Lay Organization of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, led by President Matikane Abednego Makiti from South Africa, will welcome Honorable Hakeem Jeffries, the first African American Minority Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives, to its 38th Biennial Convention in Chicago, Illinois.

Jeffries will address the convention on June 27, 2023, at 1:30 pm at the Hilton Chicago. Other notable attendees include Mayor Brandon Johnson, Congressman Danny Davis, and Congressman Jonathan Jackson.

The event is open to the public, and everyone is invited to hear from Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries. The AME church, born out of protest against social injustice over 200 years ago, continues its mission to serve its almost 3 million members across 39 countries.

The Connectional Lay Organization actively supports this mission through initiatives like the AME Social Action Commission, AME V-Alert, and other crucial projects for the well-being of our members.
