When You Need Some Advice Don’t Ask Twice… Ask Dr. Karen!

Dear Dr. Karen:
I am a college graduate and currently work as a financial planner at a top firm. I’m 26 years old, have my own home and I am quite happy in my current living situation. The problem is both my parents and family members keep bugging me to get married. They are constantly trying to hook me up with eligible women.
At this time in my life, I don’t want to get married and I am not ready for a serious romantic relationship or children. I’m enjoying dating as much as I want. That’s the purpose of being single. I enjoy my freedom and don’t want to give it up just because everyone expects me to. I am happy living by myself, and just want everybody to leave me alone.

 Dear Single and Free:
You are not the property of your parents. It is up to you to decide when your life becomes your own. When your parents and family are harassing you to get married it is not a wish for you but a wish for them.
It would be a great injustice to any woman if you were to marry her and you’re not mentally or emotionally ready. Your parents and other family members can ask you about getting married but they cannot stop you from saying no.
You are wasting your valuable time going back and forth with them. Are you a man or a mouse? Please man up and tell them to back off!
