A 24 year-old Harvey resident has been accused of scalding the toddler of his live-in girlfriend. Judge Peggy Chiampas strongly rebuked the boy’s family members as she charged Michael Barber with a Class X felony. His bail has been set at 2 million dollars.
Prosecutors and the boy’s family said the child remained hospitalized preparing for skin grafting for second- and third-degree burns he suffered on both feet, his buttocks and his genital area. Doctors also identified what appeared to be bite marks on the boy, said Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Shawn Abraham.
